Thank you to all that attended the BYU Web Community Templates Kickoff meeting. At this meeting we discussed what we need to do to proceed with the next version of our templates. We also announced 3 working groups; User Interface/Design, Content/Social Media and Engineering.

Please take a moment to fill out the following survey and indicating which working groups you would like to participate in. Remember you can help in as many as you would like.

At the Spring/Summer WebFest last week, we announced the start of the next version of the BYU Web Community Templates. We will be holding our Kickoff meeting next Thursday, June 23rd, at 2:00 pm in 3228 WSC. Some of the items we will be discussing include:
- Who is using the current templates and why did you choose to do so
- Who is not using the current templates and why did they not meet your needs
- What would you like to see in the next version of templates
- Where we are going from here

I look forward to seeing you next Thursday.

I've been asked to give an update on development of the university online calendar, which is going to transition to Drupal with development support from OIT. Many in the web community contributed some very good ideas in web community meetings last fall and through the survey we sent out during Winter semester. You can see a shorthand list of those enhancements below. Sherwin and Katria in OIT are going through the list to estimate the development time for each.

Keynote Session - Good Performance is Good Design
Nate Walton
Nate loves beautiful designs and well-crafted code. He currently works for LDS Philanthropies on the web team doing a little bit of everything. He's been an advocate for responsive design on campus for several years, and doesn't mind getting into the obscure details of web site performance if it will improve people's experience.
